Negative points are not counted in your score, so with many COATs around all downraters achieve is to make sure people get more points. Is this kismet, or merely irony?

I think many downraters are going more for the perceived psychological hit than anything. So they don't care how it turns out as long as they get to take their jabs. It's just amusing to me.
