Do i need my passport to change £s to $s if i do not use a credit/debit card to do the transaction?

    Currency exchange places will exchange currency with no problems.

    I know in most US banks away from the border can exchange currency but only with great delays in time as they have to order in the currency required. Depending on which border you are on they will handle the currency of that border fairly easily.

    I found that at almost all banks in Canada they could easily exchange USD both ways easily. I am sure it would be the same with GBP as well.
