How can someone recommend a mandate? That's like suggesting a command.
-
The CDC will never get such a mandate through.
-
Do you have a link to back this up?
-
It's a measure that would make sense and save lives. Thus, it will never happen. Btw, the mandatory would only be for children. Here's a link: http://www.nytimes.com/2009/08/24/health/policy/24circumcision.html?scp=2&sq=cdc&st=cse

nope. I'm a girl and I won't circumcise my children. circumcision was something that originally was done to prevent infections due to lower hygiene back in the day. But now that people have the ability to keep themselves clean I find no reason for it. I've been with men who were circumcised and my current boyfriend isn't, and he doesn't want to, so I find no reason to do it at all unless it's for your religion (i.e. Jewish, Muslim, etc.)

I live here in Atlanta (same city as CDC) and have seen that on the news. They're not coming near my future son with a knife.
-
No because we already have groups here that are influenced by money and not medicine. The AAP , Johns Hopkins, and now the CDC are just identifying themselves as being bought by private interest groups. None of this affects the opinions of medical groups across the world because they are aware of the profit and private interest groups that support circumcision in the US. The cost of circ .... 1.2million infants a year @ 200-600 dollars , plus follow-up and complications can easily go over a billion dollars. That's enough $ .. to corrupt many people and opinions.

I like the looks of circumcision better, but to force it? This is becoming a dictatorship in so-called health and security. +5

How can it be both recommended and mandatory? lol I've heard they're going to start recommending it, though. (Only on newborns, not grown men) It won't influence my decision to circumsize any future male babies I have. I think that it's an unecessary procedure, but that people should be free to do their own research, examine their own values (like religion, for example) and make their own decision.
-
Would do it anyway, have the ability to make decisions for myself and family without government influence. So, I guess No it wouldn't influence me, as the decision has already been made.
-
Much ado about nothing. The medical community has gone back and forth for decades over whether to recommend circumcision or recommend against circumcision. . btw, sex with non-circumcised males has also been linked to ovarian cancer. . As far as I know the CDC is not in a position to mandate circumcisions. They can recommend them to their heart's content and parents will make their decision on their boy's behalf.
-
Mandatory? Where did it say mandatory? Where did it say anything about adult males? I have read a dozen articles without ever seeing the word mandatory (or compulsory or universal or anything similar). The CDC apparently is going to recommend circumcision for infants(which is misguided) but they will never mandate it or attempt to do so.

Hmm well that seems very obscure considering that a large number of Americans are already circumsized for religious or whatever reasons, and as far as I have ever read, it's been known for years that penis is no more prone to anything sans foreskin than with or vice versa, and even so, how bad is the situation with uncircumsized penis diseases out there getting where the CDC has to recommend it mandatorily? Hmmm sounds fishy to me...another government conspiracy. But I guess it doesn't matter I am already chopped and don't plan on having kids.
-
How does recomend and manditory find there way in the same code?...Hey they can keep the fore skin throw the rest away....Sarcasm. You know the government recomends the emotion bypass chip with the bonus instalation shut off chip for non compliant "patriots".
-
I'm already circumcised, but I'm not planning on having children (of course if I do I might)
-
Whats the big thing with circumsision? My brothers circumsized but he has no benifits over me!

Comments from the CDC Aug 27th .. http://www.cdc.gov/hiv/topics/research/male-circumcision.htm “Some recent reports have speculated about the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC’s) upcoming public health recommendations on male circumcision for HIV prevention in the United States. “ “It is important to note that the recommendations are still in development and CDC has made no determination at this time about the final content.” … “ Whatever the content may include, CDC’s final circumcision recommendations will be completely voluntary.” The is not totally true, for adults circumcision is a voluntary choice, and for infants circumcision is always compulsory (a choice they don't make and are unable to avoid when it is done to them).

Here is a audio w/picture (not a video) labeled Dr D. Edell Part 2, but I wasn’t able to find a part 1 … ( ? ) CDC & Religious Bias (Part 2) – comment from Dr Dean Edell on the upcoming CDC decision. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2-aZlrTs6e8 among the speakers at the CDC conference are representatives from Operation Abraham, …of what interest is it to Jews that others be circumcised ? … When Jews stick their neck out and become the most vociferous supporters of circumcision .. the deep seated fear from WWII when Jews were identified by circumcision and sent to deathcamps. … Jews feel more secure among populations that are circumcised. (Birthers ?? ) Was Obama circumcised .. to determine if he was born an American, the logic would be that if he isn’t circumcised then he isn’t a “real american” … and avoid going in the opposite direction .. circumcision because he’s a Muslim

Circumcision was a great idea in times and places when people bathed once on their birthday or other special occasions. Today, in places where personal hygiene is much better, it's no more than a tradition with no medical benefits.

Theres also a petition at IntactAmerica.org for people to sign if you oppose the promtion of routine circumcision. It just takes a minute to enter your electronic signature. http://www.IntactAmerica.org/ and sign the petition to the CDC (Centers for Disease Control).
