    I haven't seen it, but I know that it is about Alfred Charles Kinsey, who in 1947 founded the Institute for Research in Sex, Gender and Reproduction at Indiana University, now called the Kinsey Institute for Research in Sex, Gender and Reproduction. His research paved the way for the sexual revolution of the 60s.
    Now how much the film represents an accurate story of his life and research, I cannot say, but my guess is that it would follow the basic facts, while embellishing it with Hollywoodisms...Look at the Wikipedia article on him:

    and see if it bears any resemblance to what you saw in the film.
