  • I am agnostic, I don't think there is definitive proof about the existence or non-existence of God. I will ask you one thing though to get you thinking: http://www.answerbag.com/q_view/155476
  • I think this explains it well: http://www.meaning-of-life.info/IsThereaGod.html
  • I think it can only be answered satisfactorily on a personal level. Here is the answer I have posted in response to a couple of similar questions: I believe in divinity and it is my experience that the scientific method can be used to make conscious contact. Methodology: examine yourself and see if you have any problems/behaviors that you have been unable to solve/change by yourself. If so, pick one to experiment with. The experiment is: say a prayer twice daily, e.g. "Higher Power, if you're there, I would like to have your help with..........." Sometimes the answer is "you need to change your request". For example, you ask for help with your relationship with your b/f or husband and what you are led to discover is that in order to do that you first need to fix/resolve your relationship with your father--so you make that your prayer. If you're not sure what to ask for help with on your personal growth adventure, then your prayer should ask to know what you should be asking for. Belief is based on ideas. Faith is based on experience. P.S. The scientific method requires an open mind.
  • My opinion might offend some people but then again, their opinions might offend me, so here it goes. There is no God. Religion is a man-made concept to instill control upon the masses of humanity. It does have some good points but nobody practices what they preach. It only leads to war and other atrocities committed by fanatics who cannot accept that other people have differing beliefs then their own. Intolerance of others is what religion teaches because every religion basically says "My God is the only God and other Gods are just demons trying to mislead others". Don't even get me started on fanatics, they are the worse people in the world especially when they rise to a position of control.
  • Well, I don't believe in God and I have nothing against people who do. I believe in living my life to what is socially and morally correct. I get real angry when people use religion to cause all sorts of havoc and "holy wars" - I think it's bullshit. I know many people who frequent their church/temple/mosque but on the inside they're rotten. Those people give people who DO believe and live their life right by God, a BAD name. Anyway, my belief is that the Holy books were written by man and although said to be inspired by God, I feel that humans often change things to suit themselves. I guess one day when I'm much older, i will be more spiritual but for now, I don't kill, cheat, steal, etc I feel I'm living my life righteously whether I believe or not.
  • I think that no one can possibly know if there is a god or not or if there is a heaven or hell. It’s impossible. I think that people who have near death experiences and say there is a white light that is just what happens when the brain is dying rather than going to a place called heaven. I choose to believe in a god because it makes me feel better to believe in something rather than nothing. I don’t believe in the whole Jesus thing because that is far too unpractical for my mind to grasp. I HOPE that there is a heaven and I HOPE that I get to come back and live many lives I just know that I’ll never know while I’m still alive.
  • Karl Marx believed that religion was "opium for the people"...and I agree. :) I believe in no god or spirits; I believe in what is tangible. I'm not afraid of the dark or the demons or evil spirits of dead people, shoot! I'm more worried about those alive! as those alive can cause more harm to me than those who have passed...but that's just me.
  • I don't know if there's a God, and I don't care if there's a God. We all end up the same place when we die.
  • I believe.
  • I don't believe that there's an invisible being located in some other dimension who's all-knowing but otherwise thinks like a human. I believe that the sages of all belief systems have experienced the same "God", filtered through their societies. As soon as you try to describe God, or nirvana, or the Allness, it slips away - you can only try to describe it metaphorically (as in the poem in my profile), and experience it directly. As for why... upbringing undoubtedly had something to do with it, but at age 21 I didn't know if I believed in anything, so it's not like I (or any other believer) has been brainwashed per se. It's because of personal experiences and hearing many people relate their experiences.
  • im at a stage now where i really can't decide... i didn't believe in God before, but now i sorta wanna believe that there is one.
  • I agree with Ender.
  • I believe in God. It's a sure thing to believe, and God made it that simple. If there is a God and you believe, all is well. If there is no God and you do not believe, all is well. If there is no God and you believe, there is no harm. If there is a God and you do not believe, there is risk. Therefore, believers in God are guaranteed not to lose.
