  • Well, assuming your brother commits insurance fraud by claiming his phone was stolen when it wasn't and he gets away with it, how would they be able to burn his old phone if it was technically "stolen"?
  • More than likely your brother's carrier will disable the old sim card once the new one is activated therefore that idea will not work. If the phone just stopped working and it has been less than a year the phone is more than likely still under warrenty and you should be able to get it fixed through the warrenty. Also if you originally purchased the phone with a credit card you may want to check with your credit card company. Some companies double the warrenty which means you could possibly have a 2 year warrenty on your phone. If the phone was broken through physical damage such as being dropped into liquid or having something spill on it or it was stepped on etc unless you had insurance on it you're screwed. In the future the extra $5.00 a month they charge for the insurance is worth it considering that now if you wanted to replace your phone it is going to cost you the full retail value of the phone.
