I would start by getting on a budget and spending as little money as possible on your creature comforts. Don't go out to eat, don't buy crap you don't need. Get all your debts current including your house. If the house is more then a third of your take home pay sell it. If the combined value of your cars are more then half your annual income sell them and get used cars that are $5000 or less. Build an emergency fund of $1000 that you DO NOT TOUCH EXCEPT FOR EMERGENCIES. Now use all the extra money you can to pay off your debts smallest to largest while making the minimum payments on the rest and keeping up with that. He needs to keep his job during this time and if its possible you should go to work too to help pay off these debts quickly. DO NOT BUY ANYTHING WITH DEBT AGAIN! When you start paying off debts and get some breathing room then you can think about switching jobs and going for one that maybe pays less but makes him feel better. But Hon if you are talking about this job SAVING your house then obviously you have way too much debt somewhere and you need to get this crap paid off ASAP. http://www.daveramsey.com

I think it should depend on how this job changes your husband. If he can justify what it is costing him in character versus what he is able to give to his family. And is it worth that to you- to see him suffer at the expense of what you all might want. Does the end justify the means?
