It ran away with basic math and they are shacking up in the Caribbean working on multiplication long hand.
-
I don't know if it's even taught in grammar school these days????

Actually, I avoid cursive like the plague.... my handwriting looks okay in cursive but it's a BIT sloppier than regular handwriting is. I write really neat so anything outside of the ordinary bothers me for some reason (with my writing that is). You should see me when I have to sign my name.. such a time waste. :/

Cursive writing is still being taught in elementary school as it should.

It is still taught but it's not as essential as it used to be. Most people only use it for signing documents now.
-
It's still around, but most people type on computers. We still sign out names in cursive, but doctors are no longer writing prescriptions in cursive that nobody could understand - they're all computer printouts now!
-
It takes way too much valuable time away from real learning. They should have a unit on being able to read it when necessary, but teaching its use is pointless.

People realized there's no need for it.... so they just use it in their signatures.
