Ypically, how long does it take for a letter post item to ship from the USA to the UK? Is upwards of three weeks normal?

I have gotten letters from Scotland that were posted only 4 days prior to my receiving them, and I have been told that 4 days is also typical for my letters reaching my friends there. +5
