[Comment] LOL :-) Awesome question!

No because that would probably be an endorsment of another faith. I can understand if someone doesn't want to say under God but I really don't think it should be offically taken out. The reason is simple, it doesn't violate freedom of religion because the only people who specifically belive that there is no God is atheists and atheists have already proclaimed themselves to not be a religion. Therefore they can not be discriminated against in a religious manner. (I'm trying to prove a point more then anything) I think it should just be optional what you want to say its under. If you want to say "under us" as in it is under the authority of its own citizens then thats fine with me.

LOL! Gee...if that was the way it was supposed to go, I guess I would.

Surely 'God' in this case is an asexual term, as in saying 'Man' meaning mankind as a whole

No, I am sorry but I would not. I do not believe in goddesses. I do not believe there is a Goddess of/over us. I would not say it anymore than I expect those who do not believe in God to say God. I would support the word unity but not another being's name or title.

Only to the same degree that I would willingly say "Under God". The principle rights and freedoms of this country are not based apon religion, the founding of this country was not based solely apon religion, religion is of no import to patriotic and national matters. If the U.S.A. is truly the nation it claims to be, then it should either be secular, or offer equal oppurtunity to all religions in all things. So yes, I would say it. I think that if a person in this country follows a faith that does not follow the christian principle of "God", then they should be able to insert whichever name into that slot they wish to.

Absolutely I would. I just don't see why an affirmation of any Deity should be in a pledge to a country with freedom of - or from - religion.
-
I would, for it does not matter to me god or goddess, for I personally believe that the deity is without a gender. But if some believe in the male and the other the female, that is fine with me,each to their own.

I remember when schools tried saying "One nation, indivisible.." and they left the religious part out. I'm not sure why that stopped but it was nice to not be forced in school to say "under God" even if only for a little while. I just stopped saying the pledge altogether after that. It seems pretty dumb to be forced to pledge allegiance to my country every morning before I sit down to learn math and english. Almost seems like a religion itself. Or a cult.

i have no problem with saying under God or Goddness.the day we as a nation turn our backs on God, we will perrish.thats sad because the nonbelievers will have won.
-
Actually I do say "under the Goddess" if I am reciting the pledge. However the orginal was "I pledge allegiance to my Flag and the Republic for which it stands- one nation indivisible-with liberty and justice for all." It was printed in a youth magazine for Columbus Day 1892.In 1923 "The flag of the United States of America" was inserted. In 1942 congress officialy recognized it. In 1954 "under God" was added.

No, I don't say the under God part as it is.
