  • I think the US, but let us hope we never have to find out.
  • The most technologically advanced army in the world is the US army. Since the US spends more on its army than the next seven (I think) counties put together, it is not surprising that the US Army is pretty damned capable. If it were not, the US taxpayers would be being seriously ripped off. It is a pity that the politicians cannot use this fantastically capable, albeit expensive, too better.
  • Probably America. But victory in a war is more often determined by which side had the most staying power and is in fact willing to go on fighting no matter how long or what the cost. For example by all accounts the Germans had a superior army and should have won WWII. But the refusal of the English to settle with a negotiated peace after Dunkirk meant the war went on until America and Russia were in it. In the 1800's the French army was superior to the Russian army. Napoleon thought that he had won the war when he conquered Moscow. But the Russians fought on and almost destroyed the French army. A century later if the Germans had captured Moscow it would have made no difference. The Russians would have fought on as they did with Napoleon. The English capture of Washington did not end the war of 1812. The English army was superior by any military standard. Yet it suffered a defeat at the Battle of New Orleons later. The American army won every engagement against the Vietnamese and Iraqi's. But the Vietnamese would not stop and the Iraqi's will not stop as long as the Americans were/are in their country. The war isn't over till both sides say it is over.
  • The United States. Thats why everybody comes crying to us when there's a problem. And we go clean it up.
  • There is much we do not know about the weapon capability of other countries ... If not the U.S ... I would guess Israel ... But Ausralian SAS are perhaps some of the best trained soldiers in the world ...
  • It has to be the U. S.
  • There is more than one nation on earth with the fire power to eradicate all human life on earth. After that line, it doesn't really matter which one has the theoretical capability to continue the destruction further, does it?
  • actually india or even pakistan have larger armys...
  • Taking in consideration that they had no real air force, no real high tech weaponry, much of the time using captured enemy weapons, I would say the best proven battlefield warriors in recent history of all time in the world are definitely the Vietminh (Vietcong) of Vietnam, They defeated Japan, China, France, America along with any allies that fought alongside these nations. After Vietnam's last war they could still have went on for a thousand or more years, in their past history in fact they did have a thousand year war.
  • If you mean the whole thing... if you were to line up the Chinese army vs the US army somewhere, 10 or 20 times more Chinese would die, but they might overrun the US after we run out of ammo or our artillery tubes burn out. But of course that's not a realistic scenario. . The US's great advantage are: - We're rich enough for lots of training, which is vital. - We have high-tech weapons like precision-guided bombs that only take one to destroy a target, or rocket-launching systems that can destroy whole opposing companies at a time. - Most of our weapons & equipment are some of the best in the world. The new fighter plane, F-22 is light-years ahead. . But just as important are: 1) The ability to move your forces where you want them to go. The US is way ahead of anyone else. 2) "Amateurs talk of strategy, professionals talk of logistics". Only a small part of the army fights, the rest are support personnel. We're rich enough to support troops on the other side of the world, and have the transport capability. . But then, in a mostly-infantry war such as a second Korean war, many of our advantages would be neutralized. . If you're considering highest-quality personnel & equipment, unit for unit, across the whole armed forces, then the US is best for its size, but then there aren't very many its size. The British have been traditionally right there at the top, and the Israelis too, followed by other Western (including Japan) industrialized nations. The US has the advantage of ongoing experience, but then that's a wear on the force, and we've recently had to lower admittance standards.
  • Off Course Afganistan cause they are fighting for decades and they r in posotion of war always.U never know the quantity just give them weapons and c how they fight. In past super power like Russia cannot defeat them and it seems history is repeating with US. They are running for their lives committing suicides having depressions due to the pressure of the opponent. Therefore on these basis i must say that no one fights better then Afganis in the current time. Jawaid Haider Mir (A Pakistani)
  • Strategical knowledge is the strongest weapon any state or country can have. You can have te most elite of arsen and the biggest, strongest ary if you do not possess the knowledge of strategy your plans will be foiled resulting in disaster.
  • I heard Israel is the strongest at hand to hand combat
  • The United states has weapons that the public has not even heard of yet. I am sure that other countries do as well. If US and China were ever to go to war, the US would win dispite the number of Chinamen, due to the training that is ongoing and the air mobility...;)
  • Just a few World Powers have a comparable size to the standing armies of China, India and North Korea. On high-tech weaponery, special forces training and logistics, there is only one that can be called a Super Power, and that is the US of A. With over 700 bases, on more than 130 countries, no one can move troops and resources faster, to wage a war (or help on any disaster like Myanmar or the 2004 tsunami) anywhere in the world, than the United States. Also the US share training with other World armies or how we call them, allies. We never go alone to a conflict, we have our friends, sometimes we make them look stupid for our actions (Iraq) but they are always there for us and we are there for them. For now, we are the world strongest and only Super Power. Star Wars is next!!!!
  • The US spends more money on "defense" than the entire rest of the world combined, so I sure hope that the US army is at least top five.
  • in terms of individaul countries the us or russia(a underestimited power in the world today) would be high up on the list but the us has1major advantage that russia doesnt and thats NATO. the abality to have several other armies to help out in a major war would give them a huge advantage over any other power in the world.
  • The US.The EU. Who in thier right mind would want to fight Britain France and Germany at the same time let alone the other 24 member states.
  • Kazakhistan.
  • For a full fledged war of massive destruction, no country will limit to the conventional warfare. Instead, the war strategy will be a combination of land, air and sea (if reqd)forces. Economic sanctions, food & medical aid blockade will also play a vital role. Other allied nations may also join either warring nation for their own interests. In addition technology will play a great influential role in the war result. As such it will be difficult to predict the true victor.
  • US without a doubt
  • Yeah China does have the biggest but technology wise the USA. When you combine everything tech/man power/movement/resources no one can come close to the USA. I know this said the biggest army but whats a big army if you dont have support from the seas and air. I wiki this to confirm my thoughts on this and our Navy is light years a head of the rest. If people think our army is the best when its all said and done our Navy must be off the scale compaired to the rest. United States Navy is the largest in the world with a battle fleet tonnage greater than that of the next 13 largest combined.[4] The U.S. Navy also possesses the world's largest carrier fleet, with 12 in service and 1 under construction. Aside from Nukes being able to park off your enemies coast and run sh!t with the power we have theres no contest USA with allies have no real legit threat when it comes to MASS attack. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_Navy
  • Clearly ISRAEL. If you think the USA has the most advanced army technologically wise, you are right, but the strongest is the army that achieves the will of its nation any time it is needed. We've got stuck in Iraq and Afghanistan whereas Israel has managed to wipe out all the Arab world at will and defies the UN decisions. Besides that and more importantly, the Israel lobby rules and controls the American foreign policy. Who is the strongest?
  • the US with its stealth tech, robotic recon and elite forces traing.
  • The PEACE Corps!
  • Good answers one and all! I feel obligated to put in my 2 cents, and here ya go: Yes, there are many, many violent places around the world in which the people have been fighting a war in one capacity or another for many generations. China has a GIGANTIC military but their technology pails in comparison to the U.S. Afghanistan has been fighting for over 20 years and it is true that usually the side who has the most staying power wins out. As far as "strongest" ~in terms of weapons, technology, elite training~ goes I will quite confidently put the U.S. at the very absolute tip top of that list, far above any other nation on Earth. Now, here's why: 1) Pool of potential elite fighting persons~ In the U.S. there are about 70 million ~yes million~ gun owners. That is, 70 million people who own at least one firearm. Many of this number are hunters. Many of that number are big game hunters who will lay in wait literally all day for one shot, and a lengthy one at that, on their query. I myself grew up in Montana and was sent to sniper school upon entering the military. When I asked why they were sending me to do this they said: "The place you grew up shits out more snipers than any other place on the globe." As it turned out, I only had to learn military-specific field craft to become an efficient tool for the military. A single sniper can completely halt any and all enemy movement in an area for as long as he remains hidden. In addition to the "existing" pool of easily trained snipers, there is also a huge number of people who compete in various other shooting sports. Sports such as skeet shooting, rifle competitions and pistol marksmanship provide our military with strong, healthy young people who are already well versed in firearm use, employment and safety. Essentially, most in out military are already expert shots upon arrival. 2) Technology~ Good God, we have missiles we can program to follow a specific path to a target and then go a predetermined distance down the stovepipe and blow up. Really, we have it on that one; hands down. 3) Ability to repel invasion~ So, this isn't part of the question but I think it deserves some note. Few realize that the U.S. Constitution was modeled after the Spartan Constitution from classic Greece in that the defense of the "State" was left solely up to the people. For this reason we have the 2nd Amendment in place in our Constitution. Remember those 70 Million gun owners? Well, Admiral Yamamoto said it better than I could "I would never invade the United States. There would be a rifle behind every blade of grass." Even if China, India, North Korea, South Korea and Pakistan (the 5 Largest Armies in the world) tried to invade the U.S. they would only have a combined strength of 8 million. MAX! Also, 70 million only refers to those who own at least one gun. I personally own 7, which puts me 10 shy of the Montana average of 17 per household. So, if all of that 70 million has 2 guns then you have an invasion stopping force of 140 million. Granted that would be everyone, both men and women, of "military age" in the country but, with a population of over 303 million and an additional 4 million coming of "military age" every year the U.S. is better prepared to stop cold any attempted invasion of her sovereign soil than any other nation on the planet. For these reasons I submit my answer of to this question to be: The United States has the strongest "Army" in the world. Not to say that our society lets our Army show just how strong our Army actually is. Believe me, our military could erase any locale, or locales, of the map pretty much whenever we wanted.
  • The US and Israel I think and as both countriesare always involved in some little conflicts they are forced to improve their technology. Quite interesting and thrilling how many things they need and invent for military use. I don't mind if they are paying that much money for these things.
