Question

Help answer this question below.

Whew hoo! I finally have a legitimate question. Here goes... the AC on my 2005 Lincoln LS is blowing only warm air. I think it only needs charging. Is there an easy way to do this myself? Tell me what you know. Thanks in advance.

You need a license to buy the fluid. That means you will need to pay someone.

I was going to say that couldn't do it by yourself, but read through the answers and see that yes you can, and yes you did. Good to know.

i have a 2002 ford truck on its original charge that is ice cold a/c. If you are blowing warm air, you probably have a leak which leaked out most or all of the refrigerant in the system. Refilling the system probably would just leak out again. Pressure test the system before recharging it with refrigerant. If it can't hold pressure, there is a leak.

first thing to do is, start your car with hood up, turn your a/c on high and watch and see if the compressor is engaging, if it is cycling on and off rapidly, this means your low on refrigerant, if it is not cycling or coming on then you are possibly to low on refrigerant for the system to engage,if it is cycling then more than likely you can get it back cold using 1 can of R134a, you can purchase the R134a at any parts store or Wal-Mart, you can get the easy install can with the hose attached,
there are 2 lines going to your compressor, they both have a hose fitting, the larger diamater line is the one you want to connect the hose to, it is a quick connect fitting,, the hose will only fit the correct line, once your are connected start your car with the A/C on high and open the valve or push the button on top of the can, hold the can and turn it upside down with the hose on the bottom then jsut shake it slightly from upside down to right side up. once the can is empty, you can release the hose from the fitting on your A/C line. if the compressor isrunning and not cycling in and out you should have cold air, if the compressor is cycling you might need to put another part or full can in it.

Before you do the charge, make sure you don't have a leak, maybe something easy like a seal, or something more difficult like a line.
