  • There are many good anti-virus programs out there... both free and pay for. 90% or better of my customers use AVG and it works just fine. Just a note that anti-virus is only half the solution.... 1. keep your computer up to date 2. keep it cleaned up (ccleaner) 3. use a firewall... at least microsofts 4. use( and keep updated) some sort of spyware program (spybot, ad-aware etc.)
  • Between those two only, I would take Avast Pro. Avira beats them both of them though. Which is better: 99.7%, 98.2%, or 93.0%? When it comes to protection, I prefer the highest effectiveness rating I can get. AVG is the low one there, and the only infection I ever had was with AVG Free. Avast is considerably better and close enough to Avira that I would say that you wouldn't go wrong choosing Avast. I am not sure if I would bother with the Pro version for the same reasons I don't use Avira Premium though; there are good, free programs out there to protect one from non-virus malware and I am cheap :)
  • I like AVG a lot. It takes good care of my computer. I have not used Avast.
  • I always recommend Avast as a FREE one. There is no doubt that Avast is the best free Anti-Virus on the market. Avg has low detection rates, so it will not do its best keeping Viruses, Spyware, Rookits etc off your computer. Avast however has multiple scanning engines like Virus scanning, Spyware Scanning, Rookit and Adware scanning etc. Avast also has a Web Shield, a Network Shield and a Standard Shield with also a P2P-Shield (Torrent, Limewire, Frostwire Protection) which if im corrected this Anti-Virus software (Avast) is the only FREE one too include that. It also includes a: Boot-Time -Scanner so it can scan your computer at Start-up ensuring your computer is free from all threats. This is also the only free one too include that. The only downfall with Avast is you have to register which is free of course to get your code/key. Once downloaded and installed you have so many days to register the program which you can do from their website at: http://Avast.com . Another downfall is that every yr your code will expire so you have to Re-register which is free again, however this problem is worth-it for what it does, and what it provides. Avast Home Edition is as good as the Pro version apart from the fact Avast Pro includes the Script Blocker however many people seem to find this un-useful, so Avast Home is just as good. When you have installed Avast be sure to put its settings to high, and its also bets to password protect it. I hope this helps you and if you need anymore help or information, please do email me. selwood.ryan@live.co.uk http://Avast.com (Homepage) http://www.avast.com/eng/download-avast-home.html (Download) http://www.avast.com/eng/home-registration.php (Register) New User: Fill in the form down the bottom of the page. Other: Click either one of the first two options. Bye Now.
  • i'm using avast home edition . The new version has been released on their website. It s a freeware. You can register yourself on the avast website to recive the registration key . They provide timely updates (small in size, ie. In kb's. Which s usefull for people with limited internet plans ). It s fully legal n it generates a virus recovery database to report avast about the new viruses . To detect n delete malwares on your comp use malware bytes . Another free software . N a powerfull tool to clean your comp of malwares. I use these softwares myself . http://malware-virus-spyware-remover-tools.blogspot.com/ http://best-free-antivirus-software.blogspot.com/
