About two hours at the most. Of course, these two were holy terrors from day one. :)

Wide Awake Phoenix is correct. In my case, it took them about an hour to remember that (being cats) they are actually in charge of everything. As a primate, my value to them can be traced entirely to my opposable thumbs, which come in handy when opening cans of cat food. I also pay the mortgage, the water bill, and the electric bill, but Maggie and Gus treat these matters with complete indifference. You've heard that old expression that in ancient Egypt cats were treated as gods and have never forgotten the fact? Totally true. LOL. I put up with it because I like having furry critters in my house -- a statement that applies both to my cats and to my husband.

it depends on the kitten you have to remember that the kitten has feelings as well and may have already been traumatized by something just be loving while letting it check out its new surroundings as well at first you could by the kitten a kennel for at night and to help litter train as well if she has a problem with that and it helps not letting the new kitten scratch up stuff while you are asleep

No felines in this home. S/O is bigtime allergic...and it's not psychosymatic. Ergo, I'm not qualified to offer an opinion. Canines are our our pet of choice, but we love and respect all animals...even most humans. :-) +5
