Well, if you want some truly fun socks, you can try www.sockbroker.com. I went there to find socks for a costume I needed on stage. What about gift certificate to something local that they would like (if they are local) such as a sports team or store? Or a fancy billiards hall?

I suppose if you wanted to be a bit wacky, you could get them a torch ! (remember the days when cinema ushers used to have a torch to show you to your seat?) What about a pewter tankard? a tie clip? a money clip? but, to be honest, I like the idea of cufflinks - there are some fantastic designs out there, and it is rare that men have the opportunity to wear them these days - a wedding is one of those very few occasions (well... except for a 12 year old boy in one of my classes - he is the ONLY 12 year old I have ever known to wear cuff-links to school!)

Consider what is more important to you...and to them. For example, if you want them to carry the memory, don't give them a gift certificate because whatever they purchase is unlikely to be connected, in their minds, with your wedding. If you buy socks, or a tie or some other item of clothing, it has a shelf-life that is too short. If you buy a money clip or cuff links, every time they use the item they will be reminded of the ceremony. So think in those terms...what will the usher use regularly and will it wear out? More importantly, will it remind him of the ceremony?

Thank you all for your help, both of our Ushers are smokers, so we're going to get them an engraved petrol lighter with their name on one side, and usher with our wedding date on the other side :-)
