yes because the funds and such would only include white people and exclude any other race. but that's just my opinion
-
Yes, it would be considered as racist. Of course it wouldn't for any other race to do the same thing. The white man has a dark cloud following closely above their heads because of the events in the past. This is unfortunately the way society looks at things.
-
Yes it would, and yes all the programs, colleges, and pageants that exclude white people are racist. Furthermore if a person receives money or uses any of said programs should also wear the racist label! I thought people want to be equal. I guess I thought wrong!
-
It would seem a little REDUNDANT--seeing as in the past, whites have been able to achieve these things WITHOUT assistance.

This really touched me because I worked for a black lady (she came in after I was there) and I was discriminated from day one. Amazingly, her boss was black, the HR head was black and the ombudsman was black. This is state government! Anyway, it got so bad and I had so much documented proof, I went to the state and Federal EEOC, only to find that the people handling my grievance were black. Yes, when I appealed, it was also a black person. You would think that just ONE of them would have the guts to see what was going on and defend me. After all the results came back, my black boss fired me. No, I don't hate black people, some of my black friends encouraged me. But this vindictive black boss who wants an all-black staff I am trying to forgive and move on. The pain shot so deep because it was over a 6 year period and I couldn't get another state job (need the benefits) because of her. After the firing, I got the perfect state job with the perfect boss, only to have to quit 2 years later because of health. I think we should abolish ALL programs that help someone because of race, religion, etc. +4

maybe
-
Yes, for obvious reasons.
-
Yeah sure, but it wouldn't as big of a deal if the roles were reversed from the past and whites were the minority from the start that were denied things because of their color lol.
-
All of those existed for eons before the black specific ones came along. For the most part they still do.
-
The black version of these things need to go away sometime soon. I'm not sure how that will be arranged though.

Look certainly there was a time when these things were absolutely necessary. Why in Gods name people thought the way they did back then is beyond me. Still today many non whites believe they are being held back in some way. Well in certain areas of he country they may very well be. I truly believe for the most part in this country a person of any color or sex can be whatever they put their mind to. Sure maybe not in the place you are right now. Hell nobody can reach the top anywhere. Its all about the choices you make. If you feel that the opportunity for advancement isn't where you presently work then take the steps to make a move to a place where there are opportunities. This goes for everyone black, brown, red, white, and yellow. The time for these special programs are near an end. Thank god we are living in a time where all people are equal or at least judged on their ability.

Yes, they would be, because that's slippery slope territory for the class on top. There are already culture-blind programs to help everyone get into college; Miss America is a predominantly white pageant; and white people don't need assistance through the front door, as we are the established race in America. Black people in America though, up until the late 70's and 80's, and still today, were suppressed and afforded less opportunities for upward growth by the economy, government, and communities - sometimes consciously, many times subconsciously, which led to programs being initiated to attempt to equalize the freedom of socioeconomic mobility for black people in this country. The caucasians have been consistently the most powerful race and culture in America since we overthrew the native soverign nations in the late 1700s, which, while it does not guarantee, as I am a shining example, well-being for every white person, it does mean that there about a half-dozen races and nationalities in this country that are struggling to be on even keel with the established folk, and if it's racist to give my fellow man a leg up when he has suffered the inequities of my ancestors through special programs, then I am a racist. I do acknowledge though, that there elements of every culture that act vindicated and entitled no matter what goes down, holding the rest of the culture back. The black-positive programs were mainly designed to attempt to patch the wound we left in their side over all those years; they themselves are racist to, by virtue of not having programs for the other races and cultures that were here before, after, and because of us which were and still are suppressed by gentrification. . I do like an idea the Florida school board had on religious holidays - there were so many religious holidays on the school calendar, there was hardly a whole week that went by that wasn't punctuated with a day off - so they get rid of all of them, and if parents wanted their kids off on those days, then they would just have to phone in and it wouldn't count against their attendance! Instead of building a bunch of programs to help back up everyone who's ever been squashed by the twin blackened boots of American imperialism and manifest destiny, we reform and converge our current assistance programs into one entity that bases assistance for everyone who walks through the doors on need and precedent. If a kid with a family that's never finished high school living in an abscessed urban area needs to go to college or needs help moving somewhere more conductive to learning, then he or she gets more money than someone who already lives somewhere conductive to becoming a better, more successful person and just needs a bit of help. No muss, no fuss, no need for race, culture, or creed to come into the equation.

can i ask - how many Miss America Pageants are there? Is there one for each racial and religious group?
