Yes You must first make a potion of skunk extract and sea cucumber slime. smear the stuff all over the broom bristles. The first time must be done from very high up so you need to go to the roof of the tallest building you can find to prove your belief. Now shout out "I am Icarus" and jump.

Just because one practices magic does not mean that he/she has to use it to carry out every action - in fact, I think that may be disrespecting the balance of energy and not what magic is all about (in my opinion).
