Why is it that most New Vegetarians & Vegans are so angry at others for eating meat, when that is what they did a short time ago? Btw. I have never eaten meat in my life.

I saw that on a show the other day, the Mom tried some alligator I believe, the family got extremely mad, because she was always preaching against it and they felt betrayed. -
I think it's along the same lines as Born Again Christians being the most forceful about the religion, when they were the same way... They think what they are doing is the right, and only, true way to do things.. and when someone refuses to change, they view them as backwards or wrong or ignorant. They think people who refuses to stop eating meat are horrible people because it's "cruel", etc. I think it has something to do with the fact that a lot of people who turn Vegan are also avid PETA people.

neither have i v proud of that not openly a good topic of conversation in general as they say ohhhh but you would if you were on an island and there was no food looking smug nothing worse as my honest answer isnt ever enough to wipe the clever smug knoing look off their face, i would never eat it is that simple no questions i live i breathe i sing i write i drive i love my cat i dont eat meat.

I would guess part of it is because they haven't learned to tune out all the messages we face everyday that are geared for enticement to indulge in meaty gluttony. --- They might have a self-centered view of the world that just because they make a change for the better that society will be there to cheer them on and support the cause. --- This could also apply to things like buying a hybrid car, using less electricity, making sure one's goods don't come from labor camps, being an organ donor, giving to the poor and elderly ...
