In a perfect world there would be no talking, but a few whispered comments are perfectly fine by me. It gets obnoxious when it's a running commentary, when it's loud, or when someone gives away the plot details. If it's at home, it depends on how the people you're watching with feel. I talk all the time during movies at home, but we all do in my family.

Talking during a movie can get really old really fast. My brother and sister hate watching movies with me because it makes me so annoyed. All of a sudden they decide to start talking about things that don't pertain to anything and it drives me nuts! I prefer silence, except for some laughs. Why ruin it for everyone else?

In a theatre it is a stabbing offence. At home it completely depends on who you are with, wether they've seen the movie before, and how good it is.

I don't like any comments at the theatre. At home, depends on the movie.

Strictly none at all and no texting your friend. That has become one of the big annoyances at theaters lately as well.

I don't mind if people whisper, because the volume of the movie will probably drown them out anyway. Also, there are some scenes where it's appropriate for the audience to laugh, and that can be a great communal experience. It's only annoying when people talk out loud, yell at the screen, or have ringing cell phones.

Depends completely on the movie. I love to watch old crappy movies just so that I CAN talk during them. But a serious movie that I'm interested in I prefer the comments be minnimal.
