Write about your life, and embellish. If you remember your dreams, write them down. Keep a notebook by your bedside. When I write, I build a story around facts too. When I was younger, I kept a three ring binder with me and wrote down any idea that popped into my head, even if it was just a sentence or thought. Nowadays we have the laptops and notebooks...: )
If you have grandparents, talk to them. Volunteer at some of the retirement homes, and you will hear some crazy stories. Veterans can really weave a tale too.
Write about what you know, what you feel, what you think.
Write about your family, current and past (grandparents, great-grandparents, etc.)
Write about what is going on in your life.
How about writing about goodness for a change. I think I've had enough of rap songs that talk about killing and the use of foul language. Movies that glamorize guns, killing, and violence. Now there's the ticket. If you write about goodness and kindness...then people will take notice.
