I just started physical therapy for numbness in one leg. My therapist is an old friend of mine, and she started me on this method. http://www.mckenziemdt.org/approach.cfm?section=int I'm usually pretty skeptical of this kind of stuff, but this is really working for me. I could feel the numbness retreating the first time I did the exercise. It is simple and cheap. If it is the right thing for your condition, you'll know it almost instantly. My friend sent me home with a copy of his book to read, and it makes perfect sense to me. When you sit in a slouched position, you put pressure on the discs in your spine which causes them to bulge outward and put pressure on the nerves that enervate your legs. That is what causes the pain. It is apparently particularly common in runners, because the exercise stretches and loosens the ligaments that support the discs, and while they are in that state, you come in exhausted and drop into a chair in the worst possible position. It is the sitting after the run that causes the pain, not the run itself. The book is only ten dollars and its available on Amazon. It looks like the exercises are on the website, so you can probably just start from there. If it is the right exercise, you should feel the pain moving upward and towards the middle of your back until it ceases altogether. If it moves away from your spine and down your leg, its the wrong treatment and you must stop immediately. She's got me doing 5-10 reps as tolerated every 2 hours. In between, you want to be careful to put a rolled up towel in the small of your back when you sit in a chair.

could be a stress fracture if you've been putting alot of pressure on that spot. i got a stress fracture last year from running, cracked it again in the same spot, and i have one right now in my foot that i havent had time to try and heal.

If the pain continues, not to put down ab, but a message board may not be the place to look for answers! Talk to your doctor or trainer. Hope you start feeling better soon....
