  • Just because you don't like the way the government is being run doesn't mean you're any more or less patriotic than anyone else. . I have no problem with our current direction in government and I've served in the USMC. But I guess that makes me a non-patriot. *eyeroll*
  • Being patriotic means that you love your country. You don't necessarily have to love the people that run it.
  • We as a country have become a society that must hold others responsable for our own stupidity, We live in a society that sues a business because their coffee was too hot, and sues a school because they cant seem to find employment. In this society is there any surprise in the fact that their are plenty of people who want to hold the Government responsable to cater to their every want and need. I dont really know if its a case of patriotism, but more of a case of personal accountability. For some reason or other there are those that feel they are entitled to everything for simply being born on this soil, instead of using ones own initiative to reach for the top. Im not speaking about those who cant, there are already programs in place for them. Im speaking on those who wont.
  • Yes, let's redefine "Patriotism" as far as possible AWAY from the insane paranoiac Teabagger Glenn Beck version of it....;-D... . . .
  • It was redefined a long time ago."patriot" has degenerated into a bullshit political word that has come to mean "people who I agree with".
  • You mean like in "The Patriot Act"?
  • anyone whom blindly follows the dictates of the central government should redefine the word to "idiot". The central government does not have your best interests at heart, they want to make slaves out of you and control your every move.
  • By believing that this government know better than the last what it is doing. Not, admittedly, a very high standard to meet.
  • Patriotism is the last refuge of a scoundrel.
  • How can YOU decide for all Americans, that they must accept/condemn this president in order to consider themselves patriots? Is your last question meant to be: "Should the word 'Patriot' be redefined [by ME]?"
  • I think most people should learn what it means in the first place without attempting to redefine it. If they did, we wouldn't be watching a bunch of idiots make fools of themselves in these townhalls.
  • Oh say can you see...
