Feed him foods that won't constipate him so that he goes more. Feed him fruits and veggies. Buy more TP.

This is a good question and many parents ask. Punishment is not a good idea. A reward for going is good--but not food. Perhaps a hug. Ignoring his accidents is a good idea--because it does not reinforce the idea that he gets attention by misbehavior. A loving parent is always a good thing for children. Punishment, no matter how it is rationalized, is never good.

you could do so sort of chart. Have him help you keep track of it. And in the beginning EVERY time he does it right reinforce! once he shows that he can do it with a 1 to 1 ratio of reinforcement. start faiding it out. maybe every othera and so on. Reinforment is MUCH better than punishment. but you have to remember it has to be something HE likes.

make the potty fun, provide jelly beans, sing songs, play music, get different colour light bulbs. make sure he sits for one minute every hour, until you catch all there is to catch, then start spreading the times until he misses then go back one. boy seem to take longer, but do not talk about it with others infront of him, that will sure lydelay
