Question

Help answer this question below.

I am hoping to start college (community) this spring quarter. The problem is the money. Do I get a loan for the full amount of school and if financial aid comes, pay off the loan with the aid? Or do I wait and see if the financial aid comes first?

I would say the first step is to talk to your financial aid office at the college you are wanting to attend. They will more than likley tell you to submit a FAFSA (www.fafsa.ed.gov)so they can determine your eligibility. I would wait to see what they can help you with before trying to get a loan through a private lender. The college might also have payment plans or coverage for the tuition until the financial aid is recieved.

I don't know because I havn't taken the route you have taken but I started off by filing FASFA and getting a financial aid package offered by the state and federal government and the college.

My offer that I accepted was half of my tuition ($11,000 a year) paid free of charge.

The school I attend lets some students go ahead and start if the aid hasnt come through yet. As long as at the end of the quarter all fees are paid. Talk with your financial aid advisor and they can tell what would be best for you.
