Dogbreedinfo.com says that shih-tzu's are prone to eye problems, yes. I saw your other question about this as well. I'm sure you are trying to save money and probably only want to go to the vet if necessary, which is understandable, but I don't know what that could be. I'm no expert but I'd say you should get to one.

Hey Kimmie, I have a Shihtzu too. My breeder told me that they are prone to eye infections so I groom him once a month and my groomer keeps his hair around his eyes well cut. Be sure to get his or her hair cut around the eyes and keep it very clean. I always put vasoline around his eyes. Good Luck! I love my Shihtzu!!
