lol. i only laugh because i just went through this last week. i negotiated such a good pay as office manager in a real estate office with great perks that the secretary/accountant told me she was jealous of my pay, AND the silent partner asked me to take a pay cut to help with expenses. r u kidding me? lol. I went into a flailing business to turn it around and gave them their ONLY month of profitability since september when they opened and the secretary was jealous-the partner was cheap and didnt want to pay out money to get his business going. FYI I was only there for 2 1/2 months. they needed me and guess what? f--- em! they think that i did it so easily that they could do the same thing? nope. sorry, doesn't happen that way.
trust me, it will never get better. one of you has got to go, and i suspect it may be the supervisor..
I left and went back to my old company. enough of that crap. it may not be so easy for you. and....this is not a conversation to have with your mad superior. have a convo with HIS superior, and clear it out. just be careful with what you say. tell him as a courtesy.
fyi- if the guy is your supervisor, it is almost common sense that he earn more than you do. Consider it a great compliment that you were hired with a better salary. you must be VERY good at what you do.
maybe they want that guy out... and if he quits it will be cheaper for them.... they obviously like you better! just smile. being non-judgemental, and professional will help you to go places.
