  • Things You'll Need: - Tooth paste - Cotton swab - Eye glass cleaning cloth - Water Instructions: Step 1: Dispense enough toothpaste on to the tip of a cotton swab. In a pinch you could use a cotton ball, however they have a tendency to unravel. Cotton balls may also leave lint on your disc surface. A cotton swab allows more control in application of toothpaste to surface. Step 2: Apply toothpaste with cotton swab to areas of disc where scratches are present. Use a basic white toothpaste without any additive properties. Possibly considering purchasing a travel size tube for this use only. Step 3: With a clean swab go over the surface of the disc moving out from the middle. Step 4: Rinse with cool water straight from the tap to remove excess toothpaste from the surface of the disc. Step 5: Use a cloth which does not contain lint to dry the surface of the disc. A cloth used for cleaning of eye glasses works well for this purpose. Tips & Warnings: Tips #1: This technique works on light scratches. Tips #2: The best tool is prevention. Do not stack CD's or DVD's without cases. Always keep your media in its storage case. Warnings: Use this technique at your own discretion and risk. Gel toothpaste or whitening toothpastes may cause further damage.
