For both Canadian and American football there is 11 men for each team .One quarterback,4 linesmen ,2 runningbacks,a 2 receivers. The field is broken up with lines,each representing 5 yards. In Canada the field is 110 yards long and in the US it is 100 yards.The quarterback is the leader and throws,hands off to another player,or runs with the ball.The linesmen protect the quarterback from being tackled,the runningbacks run the ball,and the receivers catch the ball.In Canadian football there is 3 downs(chances to move the ball 10 yards),in the US there is 4 downs.The game is one team kicks the ball to the other team,and this team tries to get the ball down the field to score a total of 7 points(touchdown + convert) If one team does not move the ball in the downs permitted they must kick the ball to the other team.

Basically you are on a team of 11 players playing against another team of 11 players on a pitch with its boundaries marked out. It's longer than it is wide and there's a rectangular goal at each end. Using mainly your feet, but any other part of the body except the hands and arms, you have to get a ball into your opponent's goal. Whoever does this most often in a game lasting 90 minutes and split into two halves is the winner. Each team has a goalkeeper and, provided he is within a clearly defined area in front of his own goal, he may use his hands. You try to score touchdowns. Every time you get the ball, you have four chances to get ten yards. If you get to the other end of the field, you basically get seven points.
