Brave it out...that's the ONLY way. (It's not THAT bad).

Speak to other people who have had tattoos done and ask for honest opinions. If you're really worried about the pain aspect you could just get a henna tattoo. At least that way you'll get to try out the look to see if it suits you too.
-
If you really want a tattoo, the pain shouldn't matter. Honestly. But I would think long and hard about why you want that tattoo. Does it mean anything to you? A barbed wire heart? Make sure it's something you're not going to regret.

If you are absolutely sure about getting a tattoo the pain will be secondary. It is worth it in the end. PS: Any place with a lot of bone (shoulder blade, ribs, ankle) is going to hurt a bit more than other places.

Don't worry about the pain, trust me. It's really not as bad as popular myth would have you believe. If you've ever gotten a filling in a tooth, that's far worse. What you do need to be sure about is that you want this tattoo. I waited more than a year after I was sure I knew what I wanted just to be positive. Think of yourself several years down the road and how you might be different. Will the tattoo fit in then? But as for the pain, it's like a kitten scratch. Not a big deal.

If you really want it done you can do tatt in stages, have a word with your local tattoo shop. Try not to scratch off the scabs as the ink might come out and then the tatt is kinda ruined.
-
I think it all depends on how much you want it. Just sit there and think, at least I'm not giving birth to a baby. lol

Depending on your age.. Do what everyone else does... get drunk first!
-
It does hurt..but after a few minutes, not so bad. If you really want it, grit your teeth and go for it.
-
suck it up. most things worth having require some type of pain. just be sure you eat first and keep some water handy.
-
Well, ask people. Just know that some are gonna say it doesn't hurt, but I've seen plenty of people cry.
-
Relax! Being nervous will only make it hurt more. While everyone's pain tollerance is different, my personal experiance with tattoos, isn't so much pain, as it just being uncomfortable, I have three, two on the fronts of my shoulders, and one on my upper back, the only time it hurt at all was when the one on my back crossed over my spine and it still wasn't unbearable.

I've been thinking about a tattoo for months and months now. It's not the pain that concerns me, because that's just temporary. My big dilemma is what to get that's meaningful to me. Added to the conundrum is that now my boyfriend would like one too and maybe we'll get something matching. My advice to wait until you are absolutely sure of what you want, because once it's there, it's there for good.

honestly if you get a small one it wont hurt unless you think its goin to hurt. i now have 10 Tatts. and im fixin to add one more behind my ear. i have a 6 inch scorpion on my right shoulder blade.. the worst part of it was after it was all done.. and the artist had to fill in a spot directly in the middle with a different color. and it wasnt really pain. it was more like a sting.but my strategy every time was this... go in with the attitude of it not hurting and being like ok well lets get this done with . Pain is just a mental thing. If you think its goin to hurt. it will. but if you dont, it wont. here, ill let you see all my tats cept for one..
