  • Knowing the mindset of the Generals in the Imperial Japanese Army, there is absolutely no doubt that they would have chosen to drop the A bomb on US cities if they had it. They would have wanted Europe and Asia free of nuclear radiation fall out as they wanted to rule these areas. And it was the US who was playing the spoil sport for them. Not only the Japanese but the Nazis too would have dropped the Nuclear bomb if they had it. Fortunately they didn't get to develop it.
  • It was war-- TOTAL. War itself is wrong but that's how humans solve problems politically.
  • Yep. Absolutely NO doubt in my mind. Many people who did not experience, or have close family ties with, a world war have utterly NO concept of what that really means. It was openly declared, total war with world domination as the agenda. There WERE no limits to what the nations involved did, most especially when they were backed into a corner. If Japan would have been capable of delivering a nuclear weapon to an American city...or even American held territory in the Pacific, they most certainly would have.
  • They would have used it as soon as they could. It would have been hard to reach a mainland American city but Pearl Harbor would have been blackened/completely destroyed and every island and city they could have reached by plane or suicide ship would have been destroyed. Eventually they would have taken over as much of the world as they wanted; no stopping. The Imperial Japanese Army knew no mercy and had no moral limits regarding their enemies. Some Chinese history reflects that as well as the Bataan death march history.
