  • take them to a vet so you can get medicine...heart worms are dangerous, so you are going to want to do it soon
  • Generally, immiticide is the injection chosen by most vets. It is given in a 2 part set over 48 hours. The injection is given into the back muscle and is painful. The dog must remain VERY calm and still during the treatments which will last weeks. Crating and leash walking are a must! Only a vet can handle this and there are no "At home" remedies. Starting your dog on Interceptor WITH APPROVAL FROM YOUR VET can help prevent further infection. However, it cannot kill the adult heartworms already infecting your dog. Remember everyone, this can be prevented by using Heart Worm Prevention!!! (Interceptor, Heart Guard, Revolution etc!) Good luck!!
