  • Sambuca is often used rather than sugar to sweeten espresso coffee.A traditional Italian preparation is sambuca con mosca (literally, "with flies"); sambuca served with three coffee beans representing "health, wealth, and happiness", dropped into the drink. Wikipedia I have to admit, to my chagrin that I do not know the etiquette of Sambuca in expresso, but I have seen many liquori served in espresso, as an after dinner drink. People usually smell them to appreciate the smell, then give a small sip, acknowledge it, then drink as normal.
