  • Someone I know breaks out around her mouth and and gums swell when she eats grapefruit. Sounds like similar reactions.. I would think this is an allergic reaction.. I would check with your doctor and avoid pineapples until you find out.
  • The Acid is to strong for you
  • G'day GTA Master, Thank you for your question. It sounds like an allergy. I assume it doesn't happen with other foods. I would speak to a dentist about it if you were worried about it and stay off the pineapple in the mean time. Regards
  • Your Scurvy is so bad that eating even soft fruits exacerbates it. Eat more Pineapple! (Just joking)
  • Between the acid and the Bromelain in pineapple which acts as a contact dermatitis, it sounds like you have a mild allergy to pineapple.
  • I also get this reaction, and allergies don't make people just bleed. Pineapple is very acidic too, but there are very strong enzymes in fresh pineapple which break down proteins(this is why it is used as a marinade). So it basically breaks down your lips and/or tongue and the blood seeps out.
