    I would say 1996 to 1997 In 1996 was nominated as Best Male Artist for MTV music awards (although he asked that his name be withdrawn because he wasn't comfortable with the competitive nature of award shows). Also in 1996 he won song of the year, single of the year, and best pop release or "where the wild roses grow" a the ARIA awards. In 1997 he won for Best Original Soundtrack for "To Have and To Hold", also an ARIA award In 1997 he won songwriter of the year at th APRA awards. So, awards-wise...this was good for him! Cheers
