I bought a new laptop at bestbuy, and they told me that I really needed the restore disc, so i payed an extra $70 for it, only to discover that there was a step by step guide for the recovery disc in the box, is this bait and switch?

Could it be that they stated you really needed it but did not mean that you had to buy it from them. I bought a laptop also at best buy but they did not suggest I buy the restore disc from them. When I turned my computer on, it gave me the option to make the restore disc. I did. If it does not give you the option, you can always go and make the disc from the restore icon. If you feel they mislead you, go back and talk to the manager and state that you feel it is deceptive business practice. Tell him you feel you were mislead by employee insinuating you really needed the disc. May they return your money and you make the restore disc. Whatever you do,keep in mind that you do really need the restore disc. The disc or cd are no longer included with the computer like they used to include them sometime back.
