Should I answer a serious question where I believe I know the correct answer but I am not totally sure and there is a chance I could be wrong?

People seem to forget that everyone on here doesn't have their doctorate in any particular discipline. That's what the disclaimer is for at the bottom of every page. The point here is to share, and that's it. Just share. If you aren't sure you know, but you THINK you know, then just include that in your answer. Being honest and helpful is all anyone has the right to expect from any member. +5

Yes but just qualify your answer with basically what you said here. I would hope the person would appreciate the effort.

Use your own judgement, only you know how sure you are of your answer. You could be right--or read the answers given and see if they still make you think your answer is better.

Heck, being ignorant doesn't seem to stop anyone else from pontificating on whatever subject....:-D.. If it bothers you, make note of the fact that you are not certain about your answer and, if possible, give the reasons/sources for your current understanding.

Go ahead and answer it, just state that you think this is the answer, but you're not sure. Nothing wrong with admitting you don't know everything.
