  • Getting more and more each day, I hope. It's so much better than IE though there are a few websites that have trouble using it, but luckily you can change it to IE if you need to, right there in the Firefox browser. Just for the spell check alone, it's worth it. Plus it's a lot faster than IE.
  • It has been growing in popularity since it first came out. As of June, 2009, 47.3% of all people use FireFox, while 40.7% of all people use one of the three most recent versions of Internet Explorer. http://www.w3schools.com/browsers/browsers_stats.asp
  • Everyone I know at least knows what it is. I have it on my Mac and my PC
  • Everyone that I know of that knows it exists uses it.
  • Very, I use it and it is so much better!
  • Most of the numbers I've seen put Firefox at 20-30% of all web users. There is a wide variance between polls however, so an exact number is hard to get. Amongst people who actually know something about computers and aren't lazy, Firefox is nearly universal. IE only has a large share of the browser market because it comes free and pre-installed on most PCs and most people settle for IE as it's simpler than clicking a couple of buttons to download and install an alternative browser. They are also unaware of the security problems IE can cause or anything, but they are happy because they have a box with a browser and didn't have to think or do anything for it. One thing I found interesting on the horizon though. First, read this: http://arstechnica.com/microsoft/news/2009/07/microsoft-caves-to-eu-pressure-will-offer-browser-ballot.ars If Windows comes with no browser at all and offers a choice on installation, I wonder how that will skew the numbers. Will IE win on name recognition? Will Microsoft stack the deck by choosing crappy browsers and omitting Firefox, Chrome, and Opera from the ballot to win by default? Time will tell.
