If the people of North Korea suddenly had access to the outside world, what do you think they would be most surprised about?

Probably just about everything. I suspect Kim and the central figures of the regime would meet with a well deserved Ceaucescu or Mussolini ending. The few North Koreans that escape (though there are more that make it out and to friendly countries every year) often report what a shock the outside world is as they've been told for their entire lives that as bad as things are in DPRK, the outside world is even worse when the reality is largely the direct inverse of that. The one thing they would probably want the most besides food is freedom and to be reunited with the South.

Heat in winter...and transportation. Education for their children would probably be applauded.
