Unfortunately, when he ran for the office, he proposed just the opposite. Certainly I would have disapproved, and did in fact disapprove of what he really did propose. My guess is that even the most nutty Keynesians would not have approved.

The problem with that premise, is that it didn't accumalate in two centuries. The biggest and by far most obscene increases in the national debt occurred under Republicans in the last 29 years. http://zfacts.com/p/318.html
