I'm not so sure about the 'passion of love', but one slightly romantic (although it goes much deeper than that) film that really touched me was Marco Tullio Giordana's La Meglio gioventù. It's a six hour film, split into four 1.5 hour parts. Very compelling and involving, the length really gives time to develop each of the characters. I almost cried in parts, which is pretty incredible for me. By the way, the English title is "The Best of Youth".

This isn't a typical romantic movie, but I thought that in NBK (Natural Born Killers) their story was romantic, because they wanted to be with each other so bad they were willing to kill to do it. Well, they were willing to kill anyway, but that isn't the point. The part where they finally get to kiss after they had been in jail for a year... It makes me cry to this day.
