  • The parent who left the 7 year old on the back seat must be responsible, because he/she is the legal guardian of the child. The driver in my opinion is not to blame for a parents negligence.
  • I read that story and the parents are clearly at fault here. How do you forget your own child in a cab???
  • The taxi driver's life is a tough one, I would say. Careless parents forget to wake up and take away their sleeping children and it is the poor taxi driver who must face suspension for that. This world is cruel to some people and forgiving to those really responsible.
  • I just read this story before logging on here this morning. No way should the cab driver be blamed for this. The parents are negligent for forgetting their own child. How do you forget your own kid?
  • This is crazy, I saw this all over the news last night here. I was shocked when they said the driver was going to get suspended. The parents were 100% resposible. How could they not realize that their child was not with them when they went upstairs to their apartment, its not like they left luggage, she was a kid!
  • TOTALLY without FAULT...it is SOLELY 'a' parents Responsibilty and Accountability to 'their' child...working people don't have time to 'babysit' parents .Blame, blame, blame! no Shame,shame,shame..thatsJustme
  • i think it`s the parents fault.how could you forget your own child?+5
  • The parents are at fault, period, this is insanity to blame the cab driver for the parental neglect.
  • Cohen did the right thing, but i still say both driver And parents are at fault(parents MOST of all though). 1) Parent's should have made sure their child was with them before leaving the vehicle 2) Taxi drivers should look around the seat and make sure the passengers got all of their belongings! They should look back as the passengers are exiting, so if they miss anything, they can alert them before they get too far.
  • The parents. Period.
  • parents. she was sleeping so there was no noise to alert him and also probably laying down the back seat where the driver could not see her.
  • It was the fault of all the adults (6????) traveling with the child. Ultimately the parents should be in the hot seat. I can just see this leading to cabbies refusing to pick up families because of the increased liability of children with stupid parents.
  • What kind of pathetic excuse for a parent 'forgets' one of their children? Better idea would be to charge the parents with neglect, child endangerment, or something similar so that perhaps they can be bothered to pay attention.
  • I asked a question earlier about this story. The parents are totally at fault. Why should the cab driver get in trouble for parents forgetting their child. Seems to be a lot of parents doing that lately and they don't get in trouble. Until the parents start being punished for doing this more parents will continue doing it. I am a mom and I would never forget my daughter EVER. It's parent's irresponsibility.
  • I was told we were overprotective. Leave my kid in a cab? Where is Child Protective Services?
  • The driver should be reprimanded for not checking the passenger area before driving off, suspension is too harsh. The parents need training and discipline, not the driver.
