No "athiests" but there may be "atheists". An atheist is simply someone who does not think gods are real. Because so many people think they do have a god that is real, we've given a name to the people that don't.

Yes, atheism is a word that describes people who do not believe in a god (or at least a particular god concept). Whether or not there is (in reality) a superhuman entity that may be described as a god holds no bearing on the existence of atheists.
