Of course it is. I would give a more expansive answer but it seems a no brainer so I'm not quite sure why you asked, (no offense - maybe you just wanted to gauge public strength of feeling on this?). Ear clipping and tail docking are a matter of fashion now not animal health. There's no excuse for it.

Only if you hold them down in the yard and do it with pinking sheers.

It sure is.

no. My dog is a Boxer and her ears have been cropped and I have also tagged goats' ears myself before too. My dog, her ears were done by a vet and they are put under for the surgery and given pain meds (if needed) they recover very quickly. The goats ears, only hurts for a sec, like you getting your ears pierced. They are tagged for identification.

Yes, unless its for some medical concern, like a recurring infection, but if its just for aesthetics then it is abuse. I've seen pit bulls with ears cropped so short you can clearly see parts of the inner ear that the flap would have been protecting. As such the dog would is more susceptible to ear infections. I beleive it is illegal crop/dock in the UK unless you intend to show the dogs.

Yes... it is recognised as animal abuse throughout the world. The USA is one of the few countries to continue to allow it. In the UK, unless done for absolutely medically necessary reasons (of which there are few) the vet would be removed of his right to practice, with the possibility of a prison sentence, for doing it.

Yes it is.. stop doing it!

In my opinion it is..its a form of disfigurement and therefore seen as cruel..I would never do such a thing to any animals..its no different than docking tails..is that right? no its was created by pompus people to show their dogs..its of no use whatsoever to the animal..

Whats the difference in clipping an animals ears, compared to chopping off a puppys tail? I see it as animal abuse in both cases. Dog breeders do not see it this way. I guess its all about intent.
