Bible scholars have determined that while the "mark of the beast" may have been "666" or "616" (because of the way the numbers were written in the original language), it does not specifically refer to Satan. The "666" was code, in a sense, referring to the evil ruler, Nero. "616" may have been referring to the other evil ruler, Dometian. Part of the confusion of the "666" or "616" has to do with the disputes about when the book of Revelation was written. Some believe that Rev. was written before 70AD (as early as 68AD), and conclude that it was a "666" referring to Nero. Others believe that Rev. was written after 70AD (as late as 96AD), and thus it was "616" referring to Dometian. 70AD was the year that the temple in Israel was destroyed. It was obviously a pivotal event that some argue should have been alluded to in Revelation if the book was written after 70AD. In short, no the devil is not sending you a message.
