  • Take it to another smaller shop and get another quote. Ask their opinion as to how quickly it needs to be replaced. We can't see or tug on it to know how worn noisy and loose it is. Assuming it's not clacking all over the place, I would drive it only in the neighborhood without potholes and at low speeds until I could safely get it replaced. You don't want to be dropping something like that at high speed.
