Is Italian a difficult language to learn? Im thinking of taking it as an outside subject at uni

None are easy, but Italian is not considered a particularly difficult one.

+3 No it's not difficult if you are a native english speaker. I'm in Italy at the moment working - I've only been here two weeks and I've picked up quite a bit of the language already.

Not any more difficult that most of the other Romance languages.

I think it can be difficult if one is learning to read, write and speak it CORRECTLY. If merely for "fun", it's not that bad. If you don't have a particular knack for learning languages with precision, your success at university level may be challenging. One other thing, I've found that us Yanks aren't particularly proficient at learning foreign languages correctly based on the fact that we don't even know our OWN language very GOOD! :-) +5
