Is it really?

I don't think it is. Are we the more advanced animal? Yeah, I believe so; but we're still animals nonetheless.

1) I personally don't find this terrifying, rather reassuring. Like the animals, humans are a part of nature. 2) But you are right, many people have some difficulty with this idea, to say the least: - most of us don't see much morality in the behavior of animals. So this asks the question of on what we should base our morality if we are just animals like other animals. - if there is nothing fundamentally different between us and the other animals, we can't have so many rights on them and we will have to give them some rights. 3) Here an example of this kind of thinking (the tone used in this article is sarcastic): "Reason, language, inquiry, wonder, longing, religion, morality, aesthetics, creativity, imagination, aspiration and humour ... such intangible but fundamental qualities are by no means unique to humans, as I hope I have conclusively shown. Therefore, in the profound words of TIME magazine: 'No single, essential difference separates human beings from other animals'. This being the case, Christians are plainly wrong to insist that humans and animals are vastly different. And they are also obviously wrong to insist that this difference arises from the fact that God created us humans in His own likeness. And if they are wrong to insist that God made us in His own likeness, then they are wrong to insist that God has any claim on us. Furthermore, if God has no claim on us, then we are free — free to be animals like our evolutionary ancestors — free to be as low-down as snakes, and to make pigs of ourselves, and to act like donkeys." well we are another form of animal. we are all donut shaped. food goes in, processed food goes out. its just the arrangement of cells inbetween that makes us different. Our thumb has made a big difference. And Language has made a big difference. Enough of a difference to say that we have some kind of superior grade of dna chip. above any other animal. We arent in the food chain. We build walls to keep the wild out. We cant communicate with animals, so they are in line for destruction. Sometimes a rare turkey gets spared, or a pig or a cow. Bred to be dead, eaten, skinned, sold. animals.

Because man is already terrifying--to the animal kingdom and to his fellow man.
