Do I have to separate males from females guppy fish when I put them in aquarium? Local pet shop have them separated. Is there a specific reason they do this? Can I put both in 10 gal tank?

If you put them together, they will start having babies. That's the one thing guppies are really good at.

I can't see any real reason for doing this as the females will already be gravid (pregnant), the only thing would be is that their will be more mouths to 'try' to eat the fry. Just provided plenty of hiding placed (dense weed is good) and things should be fine :)
