Even if you could do this, with the complex ports that would need to be forwarded the PS3, it would not be function: this type of networking is done PC-PC-Internet, but not PS3-PC-Internet. It is called ad-hoc networking. The PS3 does not support this. Solution: get cheap router from the Internet. I suggest buying from NewEgg.com
