  • They're working on commission.
  • Maybe they think you need help and guidance.
  • Because they're as confused about god as you are
  • You have to tell them to stop trying.
  • I have no idea? The only person that can do that is you. But im afraid that some people feel the inherent need to involve themselves in the betterment of anyone concerning their own perspective. It's not for everyone... But I wouldn't NOT believe just because some tool wants me to. Check it out for yourself. You may just find there is something to it you failed to allow yourself to see through the haze of the morons trying to forve it on you?
  • It's their missionary statement.
  • God will not make you a better person. Only you can do that.
  • They believe it is for your own good, or maybe they believe it is for their own good, or maybe they have all of their ducks in a row and have extra time for some soul saving, or maybe, just maybe they feel it is okay to stick their nose into other people business. Sure there are other options but you get the drift - I have no idea. +5
  • Why are they trying? I don't want to try I want to do it but without badgering people. I want to present my proof and have them figure it out for themselves if they can.
  • You believe in what ever you want to believe in and ignore what others say you should or shouldn't be. The more I read, the more my beliefs change and I find it wonderful to know that I live in a society where I am free to choose whatever I want to believe in.
  • Well, when the time comes...and everything is over and done with, and its just you...and God, and then you ask him why you wont be entering heaven. You cant say nobody warned you, and nobody tried...
  • i say do what you want, what works for you cause no one can change you just you can and im not really for god i just kinda in the middle and people just take that as im all for him, but yea right. you know what you can do is tell them your over 18 and going to do what you want anyways so drop it, that may work. im going to hell whos comen with me ;-)? ((HIGH FIVE)) +4 good question
  • Because many people aren't happy unless everybody else agrees with them. Differences scare them. Different Gods or no God at all, is really scary. What if they're wrong? At least if everybody in the world believes the same, we're all in the same boat. Of course there are also those who want us all to follow "God's Law" because if they can't have any fun they don't want any one else to be able to have any. Then there are those who believe a faithful people are an easily controlled people. And so they want us all to be faithful. As you can see by these (just off the top of my head), there are many reasons for people to want you to share their faith. Those who seek this from a genuine desire to "save your soul" are usually in the minority. Most of them have a selfish agenda and the reason are as numerous as the numbers of those attempting to force their faith on you. Stick to your guns (or have some fun with them). I particularly enjoy trying to convert Mormon missionaries to Satanism as they try to convert me to the LDS. It's a fun way to spend an afternoon. Hope this helps. P.S. I'm not a Satanist either... but don't tell the Mormons that, it would ruin the fun.
  • They get Goddy stamps that can be redeemed at the heaven commissary for every worker bee they bring into the hive! Seriously, the reasons vary. Some feel they are doing you a favor by "leading you back to the light". Others simply cannot handle peopole believing differently than they do. these are ofyten the same kind of people who forward urban legends and will swear up and down they saw proof. Ignore them
  • They've been brainwashed into thinking they are going to do some good by saving your soul! Most of them should look at their own lives and fix what's wrong in theirs' before deciding they need to judge someone else for their beliefs; and try to fix them.
  • because you are not firm with them that you already know what you know to be correct. we all know that you do not know anything about God, so we are here to tell you that we dont know anything either, and we want to be sure that you believe what we believe.
  • Why do you insist on debating this issue with people you do not care to hear the opinions of, that is the big question.
  • Cause with you bringing it up all the time we think hmm maybe your seeking . If you dont wanna hear it dont bring it up simple as that .
  • They are trying to save you from going to hell which is what you would do from their perspective if you don't believe in God. (I am assuming they are trying to convince you He exists although you aren't clear on what they are trying to change)
  • What do you believe about God?
  • God changes minds, not man.
  • Their imaginary friend told them to.
  • Because some christians believe that buy converting you they are helping you. They mean no harm but they have to know when to stop and accept the fact that you dont believe. I believe in God but I never try to convert because I dont want people to think I'm forcing my beliefs on them.
  • For some, they are following their missionary call. But if it is close friends doing this, it is because they care enough about you that they are concerned that you are "right with God" so that you can be part of the everlasting life promised by the Bible. You should be happy that you have friends like that who care about you.
  • according to their holy book, non believers will be punished in death, and i guess in a way they're trying to save you. whatever anyone's belief in god is, they should keep it to themselves and get on with life. +++
  • Christians are commissioned by Jesus to go out into the world, preach the Gospel, and make disciples of mankind. They are simply doing what they are commanded to do. Where the problems begin is in the methods used to get the Gospel message out. Although their hearts are in the right place, some get quite pushy and obnoxious. It get's really bad when an unbeliever doesn't want to hear it and tells the Christian this but they continue to push it anyhow. Mark 16:15-16 "And He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation. 16 “He who has believed and has been baptized shall be saved; but he who has disbelieved shall be condemned." The commission and the commission message given by Jesus is simple as noted above. Christians bring the Gospel and it is then up to the unbeliever to either believe it or not believe it. If you believe it then another citizen of heaven arrives. If you don't believe it and it turns out that you were wrong then you have no one to blame but yourself.
  • Heavenly green stamps.
  • Misery enjoys company? lol. The need to prove they are right by shear numbers of like minded people? (Might makes right) . The "I'm right, so believe what I try to shove down your throat" syndrome? . People trying to control your thoughts and take your right of independent thought away from you, is an attempt at a power grab. It is all about having power over you. The people who proselytize are just unknowing minions of these "evil doers."
  • I don't know. Generally whenever I talk to someone about belief in God it is because they come to me to talk about it. I'm always happy to talk about it with anyone. As far as on this site, the questions I see about belief in God are generally attempts to challenge believers. Answering such questions is a waste of time. When someone decides or comes to the conclusion there is no God, they seem to want to wear that like a trademark. People with faith simply live in that faith without the need to wear a label.
  • Because many religions believe that God wants people to spread the word of the bible around the world. In actuality God wanted his/her followers to share God's unconditional love with the world. Love such as feed the people, cloth the people, give the people drink and shelter the people. Not preach to the world of condemnation and hell. But like the game telephone the message got all messed up.
  • They feel powerful when they win souls...
